Figueira da Foz – Montemor-o-Velha – Serra de Boa Viagem

The mondaine town Figueira da Foz has restaurants and casino’s allong the long boulevard, and a wide sandy beach. It is also easy to reach from Mortágua, taking the IP3 and the (toll) A14. On the way to Figueira you pass the Mondego delta, with a large variety of water birds such as storcks and white herons, and even flamingo’s. A unique landscape. Close to Figueira lies the castle ruin of Montemor-o-velho. It is worth to leave the highway to take a look. North of Figueira da Foz is the forrested area called Serra de Boa Viagem. Taking the Figueira boulevard northwards, you automaticaly end up there. Here you find century old Eucalypt trees and beautifull paths with breathtaking views on the ocean.
