Casa Escola Velha

Casa ‘Escola Velha’ (old school) is over a hundred years old. Like the name says, it used to be a little school for the village until 1956. Some of the current villagers actually went to primary school there. Since that time it has been used as a communal space for dance evenings, theater and such. It had fallen in ruins, but has been completely renovated in 2021.

This house is completely built from xisto (schist) stone from a local quarry. Big, white quartz stones, that are typical for the area, have been set in the walls. All the rooms have stone outside walls, which gives it a very rustic atmosphere.

The house has two outside spaces. One terrace connected to the kitchen, with sofas and relaxing chairs and with views on the valley and the mountain ranges in the distance. The second outside space is a partly terraced garden surrounded by stone walls. It has a grill, relaxing chairs, dining table and a small path that leads to the edge of the village.

This house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It can host a maximum of 6 guests. The rent includes use of all communal spaces and the swimming pool.
