Buçaco palace & national park

Close to Luso is the forrest and botanical garden of Buçaco (also written as Bussaco). You can walk into Buçaco from Luso (long winding stairs), or take the car and drive up into the park. With a car, you pay 5 euros entrance fee.

In the heart of the park, close to the famous Buçaco Palace is a shop (loja) where you can get a free map of the park. You can use this map to find the waterfall, the tallest sequoias and a wide range of species of trees from all over the world, many of them are centuries old.

High above the forrest is Cruz Alta. This the highest point (600 meters above sea level) and has stunning views. You can walk to Cruz Alta from Buçaco, but you can also go by car. Leave the park at the Cruz Alta exit, and follow the signs. Your entrance ticket is valid throughout the day, so you can return to the park if wished so.
