Waterfalls of Paredes

Nearby Eirigo are the beautifull waterfalls of Paredes. In theory, you can walk from Eirigo to the charming village of Paredes, but it is quite a hilly walk. Better is to take the car or bike. There are four different starting points:

1. From Laceiras to Paredes (moderate difficulty). Drive through Paredes and then to Laceiras. At the end, turn left and park just before or after the small bridge. From there you can follow the signs. Just follow the river, you can not cross it. You have to go back the same way, so you can go as far as you want.

2. From Paredes to Laceiras (moderate difficulty). Park your car in Paredes. The roads in the village are narrow, mind you that a tractor must be able to pass you by. The walk starts on your left (signposted) through the meddows, when it has been raining it can be wet and slippery.

3. From Paredes to the big waterfall ‘Queda de Água’ by car (easy). Drive through Parades; shortly after you have passed the small valley and the roads starts climbing, you will find a wide dirt road, with a sign “Quedas de agua”. You can either park your car here and follow the dirt road until the end. The walk takes about half an hour, each way. You can also follow the dirt road with your car. The road starts a bit rough but is further reasonably okay. Do not forget to take the wooden stairs at the end, this leads to the main and absolutely stunning waterfall.

4. From Paredes to the big waterfall ‘Queda de Água’ on foot (difficult). Drive and park in Paredes as mentioned above (2). The walk starts on your right (signposted). The path starts fairly easy, but gets more difficult when get higher upstream. Especially with a high water level, you will have to climb over rocks and probably get wet feet.

Ofcourse, if you are in an adventurous mood, you can walk all the way from Laceiras to the main waterfall. Bring your own food and beverages, there are no restaurants allong the way.
